A new strategy for personalised cancer immunotherapy - dendritic cell nanovaccines
Dendritic cells (DCs) are specialist antigen-presenting cells that initiate an immune response against cancer cells, a process that involves DCs acquiring tumour antigens, such as mutated neoantigens or aberrantly expressed proteins, and presenting them to cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs). In a clinical application called a DC vaccine, DC precursors are isolated from cancer patients, antigenically loaded and then infused back into the patient, a form of cell therapy that has shown promising clinical efficacy in cancer patients.

Adeno-associated virus-mediated gene transfer could treat infertility
Today, infertility is a major problem involving more than 48 million couples and 186 million individuals worldwide, and the most common treatment option is assisted reproductive technology; however, the complexity of the embryo implantation process usually results in a low success rate (~25%). Scientists attempted to make a functional copy of the mutant gene that causes infertility in mice by delivering it using different viral vectors. The experiment restored sperm production by expressing c-kit ligand in Sertoli's cells of Sl/Sld mice via lentiviral vectors, which produced offspring after monosperm injection in the oocyte.

Physiologically, cfDNA in the blood is mainly derived from necrosis and apoptosis of human leukocytes, whereas in certain diseases and special states, other cells also release free DNA into the blood, including circulating tumour DNA derived from tumour cells.
